Semi-Private Scuba Lessons for Open Water Diver Certification at Washington Scuba Center are tailored to the student's schedule, allowing the student to choose the days and times of the lessons. These semi-private, instructional lessons are offered at our Washington, PA facility, which is located just minutes off of Interstate 70 or Interstate 79.

The average student can complete all of the academic portion of the course in 3 sessions, usually lasting approximately 3-5 hours each. The confined water sessions (pool work) will be at a location that is convenient to the student. Once again, the student schedules these sessions to fit his/her busy life style. Some students prefer scheduling consecutive days, others schedule their sessions over several weeks. After successfully completing the academics and confined water sessions, the student is ready for the four required Open Water Training Dives with an instructor. These training dives will be held at a relatively local lake. If the student prefers, Washington Scuba Center can refer him/her to a Florida, Caribbean or other located facility, allowing the student to complete these dives while on vacation. Upon completion of the four training dives, a certification card will be issued. (Washington Scuba Center also runs trips to the Florida Springs as well as dive vacations in the Caribbean. A student can come with us to complete these training dives and be with people from the area.)

(Effective January 1, 2007 - Because of the increased costs of travel there will be an increase in the price of lessons. We have not determined exactly what the prices will increase to - but you can be assured that you will still get the same thorough instruction that people have come to expect from us here at Washington Scuba Center. (Completely private lessons are also available. This would entail having the academic and confined water sessions of the course set up to fit your schedule only. The cost of this would be $450.00. The Open Water Training Dives will still be with a group. If there is a need for this to be done privately as well because of a specific time restraint or just preference then there will be an additional $200.00 charge. We can also arrange for private lessons to be given by us to perform the Open Water Training Dives at a Caribbean, Florida or other Worldwide location. The prices for this would be in accordance to the Dive Destination. Call us for more information about this option. )
